Journal #7 Matthew Shepard, discrimination and homosexuality in this country.

One year ago, Matthew Shepard was killed, just because he was gay. How immature, hateful is that? This whole babbling came about when I was watching MTV last night. It got me to thinking (yes I do think people.)

Homosexuality is such a feared topic that it is immaturely dealt with, if dealt with at all. it's usually confronted, and suppressed. But it never goes away.

Part of it is, this country is immature as a whole. Governments bureaucrats decide things for people who they never met, and have no idea what they want, just what they think is good for them. Well, I don't want what they think is good for me, I want what  I want. Let's see, for example, in Sailor Moon, four characters are homosexual (actually more, but I'm not gonna get into that right now). Withy the first couple, they made one female, for what they deem "suitable viewing" in the U.S. The second couple, as far as I know and have heard, are gonna be made "sisters". Oh, yeah, that'll really work. Now, doesn't this show how immature the U.S. is to Japan in some cultural aspects of society? And the real kicker is, in Japan, the show was aimed towards 7-12 year old girls. It barely even makes the Y-7 rating in America.

My major beef is, the people are judging on the basis that they're gay! That's only one very small facet of their personality. No matter how well you know a person, you still don't know enough to judge that person, much less judge a person only on the fact of their sexual preference. They're not as different form anyone other person on this planet in any case. They just want to fit in, get thought the day, have a successful life, just like everyone else.

I'm just really frustrated by the ignorance of the people that say homosexuals are "nasty" or say they don't have any problem with it, but show actions and feelings that prove otherwise. Or when someone says "that's so gay." The whole meaning of that phrase is saying that being gay, is wrong or, or something else negative.

So, I ask you, re-evaluate your view on the subject, you might or might not be surprised at the result.
